Online Banking Fraud
There is no doubt about it that online banking is convenient, quick and extremely useful to all those who decide to go that way. Not only can you shop online with ease but access overseas outlets that would otherwise be impossible to shop at. You can transfer money from one account to another, pay bills and collect money for services rendered all without leaving your home. But like everything else that is new and good, there is the possibility of losing money through online banking fraud if you are not careful. How this works is that you will receive an email with what sounds like a very good offer or a situation that calls for your immediate action. It might be that it will warn of imminent closure of your online banking account unless you click on a link, for example. When the unwary click on the link they will then be taken to a website that looks just like their online banking website. But it will be a fraudulent one. They will then be required to enter all their personal online banking details for some reason. Once the fraudsters have your details they can then go ahead and withdraw your money and you will have no way of knowing where it went. You may not even know that it has been withdrawn if you have no reason to suspect you've been a victim of fraud and you don't check your online banking account for a few days. There are many Phishing scams out there in cyber space, so don't be fooled into giving your online banking details to anyone. Remember that banks never send emails requesting such information.About the Author:
